THE ITALIAN TAX CODE (CODICE FISCALE)

The Italian tax code (codice fiscale) is an alphanumeric code of 16 characters used throughout Italian public institutions and ministries. It is is provided by the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) upon request.

Anyone needs one: to buy a SIM card for a mobile, to rent an apartment, to buy a car, to register your residency in Italy... it is one of the first things someone needs to have to start living in Italy.

WHO CAN REQUEST THE ITALIAN TAX CODE

Everyone can request an Italian Tax code. It is not necessary to be Italian and the request can be done even by non-residents.
